Research Intern (Based in India)
About this role
About Mapped:
Mapped is a boutique recruitment consulting firm that specializes in sourcing mid-senior level roles in HR, Office Support, and Leadership positions. With over 6 years of principal experience in the industry and an average annual turnover of 0.5 - 0.8 million SGD, our eye for talent is only met equally by our company's unique focus on a value-oriented, genuine, and transparent approach to relationship building, as well as our heart for empowering disadvantaged persons to thrive in the workplace through our partnership with social service agencies.
About the Role:
We're looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Research Intern to support a focused 2-month project: building a comprehensive grants database for Mapped across multiple geographies.
This is a research-heavy role. You'll be spending most of your time digging through government portals, agency websites, and funding directories to surface relevant grants, verify details, and organize everything into a clean, structured database. We want someone who is thorough, not someone who skims.
We use AI at Mapped and we're happy for you to do the same, but copy-pasting AI outputs as research doesn't count. We expect you to verify, cross-check, and go deep.
Please note: this internship is a fixed 2-month engagement with no conversion to a full-time role upon completion.
What You'll Be Doing:
• Researching government grants available to businesses (public and private) across multiple countries, with an initial focus on Singapore, India, Japan, and more
• Vetting sources thoroughly — government portals, official agency sites, grant directories, and beyond
• Building a structured, detailed grants database in Notion covering eligibility criteria, funding amounts, deadlines, application processes, contact information, and all other relevant details
• Identifying and categorizing grants by country, grant type, eligible business size, industry, and purpose
• Flagging newly discovered grants and updating the database as research progresses
• Providing regular progress updates to your manager throughout the 2-month engagement
• Ensuring every entry is fully verified against primary sources before logging
What We're Looking For:
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field
• Strong research skills — you know how to go beyond the first page of Google
• Detail-oriented and organized — you don't miss things and you document everything properly
• Comfortable using AI tools as an aid, but understands the difference between AI-assisted research and proper, verified research
• Self-directed — you can work independently in a remote setup without needing constant check-ins
• Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where ownership of your work and meeting deadlines matters
